TEHRAN (WSN24) – The naval blockade was lifted and became effective in the early hours of Tuesday
As reported by Tasnim’s correspondent, three oil tankers and two vessels transporting essential goods from Iran successfully navigated through the naval blockade early on Tuesday.
Earlier, a reliable source informed Tasnim that US President Donald Trump had insisted that the Strait of Hormuz and the blockade be opened simultaneously immediately following the announcement of the agreement between Tehran and Washington.
However, Iran did not agree to this condition, and the process for reopening the Strait of Hormuz is scheduled to commence only after the agreement is signed on Friday.
In a social media post, Trump initially asserted that the Strait had been reopened and the blockade lifted at the same time. However, after Iran reminded the Pakistani mediator of the situation, Trump revised his statement to indicate that the Strait of Hormuz would be reopened following Friday.
According to Article 13 of the memorandum of understanding, discussions for a final agreement will commence after the MoU is signed and the implementation of the clauses concerning the lifting of the naval blockade, the initiation of the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz, the release of a portion of Iran’s frozen assets, and the removal of sanctions on Iran regarding the sale of oil, petrochemicals, and their derivatives is verified.
