Bangladesh Information and Broadcasting Minister Zahir Uddin Swapan said that the government has started the step-by-step implementation of the promises it made to the people before coming to power.
Among them, 20,000 kilometers of canal digging program is one of them in the next 5 years. Mentioning that this program will be inaugurated in 54 districts across the country today, he said, if those involved in the implementation of this project resort to any kind of corruption, strict action will be taken against them.
The Minister of Information said these things at a public meeting organized on the ground of Qutubpur SESDP Model High School on the occasion of ‘Inauguration of Qutubpur self-reliant canal re-excavation work’ at Qutubpur Mauza of Nalchira Union of Gaunadi Upazila of Barisal district as part of the inauguration and implementation of Bangladesh Agricultural Development Corporation nationwide excavation and re-excavation program of the Bangladesh Agricultural Development Corporation at 10:00 am.

The Information Minister highlighted the importance of the canal digging project and said that this project will bring about a green revolution in the country. This will increase our food production as well as reduce import dependence.
He said that 120 kilometers of canal digging work will be completed in the next five years.
However, initially the work of 2 km of the 5 km canal has started from today. Talking about the importance of ensuring accountability in government work, the minister said that the people are the real owners of the state and we who are in the government are the servants.
You will get your ownership from us. He urged the administration to maintain neutrality and work. He said, we want to implement the promise made with the people.
The head of government is working towards that goal. The administration will implement the decisions taken from the cabinet on the ground.

At this time, he highlighted the government’s efforts to distribute family cards and give honor to imams and muezzins and said that the distribution of farmer cards will be started very soon.
The minister also said that the media should be made independent so that the accountability of the government increases. The government is working for the welfare of the people to change the fate of the people of this country.
