Argentina fan: ‘God has listened to our prayers’

34-year-old Pablo Ramirez, with tears in his eyes, said this was the “best match ever”.

“I cant describe the feelings I have right now. It’s the best day of my life. Finally we are champions again. It’s been too long.”

“I thought France will win after that comeback, I was shaking so much,” the entrepreneur told Al Jazeera.

“God has listened to our prayers.”

    France fans absolutely dejected

The Les Bleus gave everything but missed out on penalties.

They did not hang around the pitch for long after Montiel’s winner.

Their fans are seated in silence. They know how close they came to repeating the 2018 triumph.

Spare a thought for Les Bleus

With Messi clearly the standout man after Argentina’s penalty win, you have to give a hand to France.

The manner in which they fought back from nowhere to take the South American side the distance is quite some feat.

This is definitively a World Cup final for the ages.

    Delirium

It’s euphoria for Argenina, misery for France.

I’m not sure this stadium can handle this amount of noise. It’s ear-splitting.

The Argentina bench has run onto the pitch. Messi goes over to thank the supporters for what has been a splendid atmosphere throughout the exhilarating game.
