Minister for Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said this in the chief guest’s speech at the celebration of the production of the film ‘Mayer Dak’ sponsored by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting at the Bangladesh Film Archive Bhavan in Agargaon in the capital today. The minister expressed optimism that through the film ‘Mayer Dak’, the real picture of the disappearances will come out and this chapter of history will be clearly reflected in front of the society. He said it is very important to stand by the families of missing persons and give them the support they deserve. State Minister for Information and Broadcasting Yasser Khan Chowdhury, a special guest at the event, said, “We don’t want justice for the disappearances, we want the return of the missing people.” He hoped to build a humane society free from the politics of killing and disappearance. Chittagong-7 Constituency Member of Parliament Hummam Quader Chowdhury said, we don’t want to go back to Bangladesh where people go missing. The torture that happened to us, should not happen to anyone else in the future. Information and Broadcasting Ministry Secretary Mahbooba Farzana said, “Mayer Dak” film will reflect human values. At the same time, he hopes it will convey an honest and powerful message. Hazera Khatun, whose life story is being presented in the film ‘Mayer Dak’, also spoke at the event. Expressing his feelings, he said that this film will highlight the hardships and struggles of missing families before the people of the country. Speakers at the event expressed hope that the film ‘Mayer Dak’ will create awareness in the society about the cases of disappearances and carry an important message for humanity and justice. Anisur Rahman Khokon Talukdar, Member of Parliament of Madaripur-3 Constituency and heads of various departments and organizations under the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting were present in the event organized under the chairmanship of Sanjida Islam Tuli.
