TEHRAN (WSN24) – A senior official from the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) Navy stated that the Islamic Republic of Iran exerts strong control over the Strait of Hormuz

In a televised interview, Mohammad Akbarzadeh, the political deputy of the IRGC Navy, highlighted that Iran’s perspective on the Strait of Hormuz transcends a mere geographical interpretation; it is a strategic and distinct viewpoint.

He further stated that the Islamic Republic harbors no animosity or conflict with the global populace, but rather, the contention lies with the governments that have consistently aimed to be antagonistic towards Iran.

These nations misinterpret every action taken by the Islamic Republic as an attempt by Iran to dominate them, a perception he described as entirely erroneous, resulting in a distorted image of Iran.

In terms of energy, trade, and transit, Iran has not only refrained from imposing any barriers but has also extended significant services to the international community; indeed, there have been instances where vessels traversing Iran’s territorial waters, including those from some adversarial nations, were escorted by Iranian forces, with these services rendered at no cost, Akbarzadeh remarked.

He underscored that this approach stems from a policy of de-escalation and security, asserting, “We have sought peace and security in the region; however, the current circumstances have evolved, and new policies concerning the Strait of Hormuz are being enacted, the outcomes of which will be evident to the world.”

He pointed out that these policies are framed within the directives established by the Leader of the Revolution, affirming that the Islamic Republic of Iran steadfastly upholds its rights.

The Islamic Republic of Iran is diligently and authoritatively observing regional movements and will not permit any infringement upon its waters and interests, he concluded.
