TEHRAN (WSN24) – Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi stated that Tehran will persist in the negotiation process whenever it perceives that the United States is earnest and ready to achieve a just and equitable agreement

During a press conference held in New Delhi on Friday, Araqchi stated that this marks the second occasion on which Iran has engaged in negotiations with the US, only for Washington to initiate attacks amidst discussions and at a peak moment of diplomacy, which he characterized as profoundly regrettable.

He mentioned that Iran is presently in a ceasefire state, albeit a very delicate one, and pointed out that Tehran is striving to maintain it to foster an environment conducive to diplomacy and a negotiated resolution.

The foreign minister underscored that there is no military resolution concerning Iran, asserting that the nation has never capitulated to pressure or threats and has consistently resisted aggression, coercion, and sanctions.

Araqchi remarked that following 40 days of conflict, when the US grew disillusioned with its ability to achieve its goals through aggression against Iran, Washington once again suggested negotiations.

He noted that Iran is open to negotiations, but only if the opposing party is earnest and genuinely desires substantive discussions.

Araqchi indicated that the primary concern at this time is trust, stressing that Iran cannot place its trust in the Americans and that all terms must therefore be articulated precisely, clearly, and transparently for an agreement to be feasible.

He stated that the negotiations are hindered by a lack of trust as well as conflicting messages from the US.

According to Araqchi, Washington issues new and at times contradictory messages daily, which exacerbates distrust and raises questions about American intentions.

He reiterated that Iran has never pursued nuclear weapons, asserting that Tehran demonstrated this commitment by signing the 2015 nuclear agreement.

Araqchi emphasized that Iran’s nuclear program has always been peaceful and that the country has consistently been willing to foster confidence regarding its peaceful nature.

In reference to Iran’s enriched nuclear materials, he described the issue as highly complex and stated that Iran and the US had agreed that, due to their near impasse on this specific matter, it would be prudent to defer discussions on it to a later time.
