TEHRAN (WSN24) – Representatives from the technical and expert committees of both the Iranian and American delegations convened for discussions that extended beyond two hours in Islamabad on Saturday afternoon

A correspondent from WSN24 reported that discussions involving technical and expert committees between the Iranian and American delegations took place in Islamabad for over two hours.

He further mentioned that these discussions are still in progress, and if deemed necessary, there is a chance that the negotiations could be prolonged by an additional day.

In the wake of the assassination of the late Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei, along with several military commanders on February 28, the United States and Israel initiated a large-scale military offensive against Iran. In retaliation, the Iranian Armed Forces executed strikes on American and Israeli positions within the region and the occupied territories, demonstrating their ability to respond effectively. Contrary to the aggressors’ anticipation of a swift victory, Iran’s formidable counterattacks over a span of 40 days caused considerable damage to US and Israeli military resources.

To mitigate the escalating tensions, mediation by Pakistan resulted in a two-week ceasefire agreement on April 8, facilitating negotiations in Islamabad. Iran has presented a ten-point agenda for the discussions, which encompasses demands for the withdrawal of US troops, the removal of sanctions, and control over the strategically significant Strait of Hormuz. The Iranian government continues to express skepticism towards the US, claiming that the negotiations are not intended to resolve the conflict but rather to transition the battleground into the realm of diplomacy.
